Regina Saura's Art

About

Regina Saura transforms sleepy landscapes and still lifes alike into objects of art. It invites us to enjoy the joyful simplicity of everyday life. Regina’s loose, whimsical brushstrokes and bold washes of color give her paintings an instinctive spontaneity that belies her sophisticated mastery of composition, balance, form, coloring and line. Her paintings capture the wonder and magic of life. As with flowers and trees. They capture the brilliance and exuberance of the human spirit.

Paintings

On Canvas

Regina’s mixed media paintings are represented in public and private collections throughout Europe, the United States and Japan, including the Saint Petersburg Museum in Moscow. Art is a lifestyle. Perception. Observation. Composition. Balance. Harmony. Objects. Landscapes. Emotions…and Regina’s work is permeated with this. Her way of capturing feelings. She takes a picture, make a sketch… so she can memorize them and then follow a whole process. Her work was initially built around urban and figure subjects, but she later moved to the countryside and his work evolved into landscapes as a main focus expressing itself mainly in large formats. Her work flows as well as she herself says: “Whenever I paint something, the situation I’m experiencing at that moment comes unconsciously.”

Overlying

Overlayng was born from the process of making “El Passeig”, a work where Regina Saura illustrates a daily journey made by herself in her immediate environment.
Based on the photographs, videos and post-production treatments carried out, the author takes parts of the work, such as frames from the filming, and superimposes transparent layers on them to create these pictorial pieces that are still a new vision of the daily walk that inspires Regina and conveys the serenity necessary to carry out her work at the same time.

Transparencies

As a result of researching the effects of light and transparencies with Japanese paper, I started to play with screen printing on this material. This is where the idea of an installation came from.

These pieces are an invitation to explore traditional exhibition formats in order to transgress them and bring them to a three-dimensional object, generating spaces full of papers, like a rain of color, where movement and light create an almost ethereal atmosphere. The visitor participates without realizing it because just their breath or their own passage through the space generates wind currents that make a magically sensitive material come to life.
